Colbie Caillat – Commodore Ballroom – October 9, 2011
Looking ready for the beach in her breezy top and short shorts, Colbie Caillat returned to the Commodore stage in support of her third release “All of You”.
Her easy, personable stage presence brings the whole audience into her show, making the large room feel as intimate as a coffee house performance. Little anecdotes and stories about her state of mind and who the songs are about, accompany most of the tracks letting the audience in on the feeling behind the songs. Her nearly 90 minute set included acoustic versions of some songs, while others 
were filled in by the 6 piece backing band. A mix of reggae, pop, folk, country, Colbie’s music style is hard to pinpoint, but her simple lyrics and easy singing style make all the songs easy to sing along to. Singing along is encouraged and welcomed by Colbie and she seemed impressed and humbled by the number of people singing to her new album material. The new songs fit into the set perfectly and comfortably expanded her repertoire. Still she found time to include a well done cover of The Script’s “Breakeven”. That probably would have been the first track of her encore but rather than an encore she asked “instead of going off and doing that silly
thing of waiting for you to bring us back on, can we just spend some more time with you?” Of course the audience agreed and wished she’d spend even more time, but alas that will have to wait for her next tour.
