Last night, the wet weather wasn’t enough to stop patrons from taking a walk around the neighbourhood on Tasting Plates Yaletown.
Starting at Rocanini Coffee’s Beatty Street location, the gaggle of hungry Tasting Platers picked up their Tasting Plates cards and maps then descended upon the streets of Yaletown.
Rocanini Coffee started off the rainy night with a tasting cup of Cortado – strong espresso and steamed milk topped with micro foam.
Then for something sweet On Yoghurt Cafe at 95 Smithe Street dished out their “Ice Fried” frozen yoghurt in pumpkin spice, and strawberry flavours. Also served alongside was a smooth, strawberry milkshake.
On Robson, Straight Outta Brooklyn their tasting plate was a couple slices of their NY style pizza. I choose the Original – Margherita and a Classic – Pepperoni, both perfectly balanced iconic slices.
The three month old, House Special Modern Vietnamese has a flavourful take on traditional south east Asian cuisine. Their tasting plate offered a Shredded Chicken Pomelo Salad on a crunchy Shrimp Chip, a Peanut Sauce Pulled Pork Frybread, Kabocha Wuntun on a zesty Curry.
For a cleansing sip Chaser’s Fresh Juice Bar squeezed a jar of their Green Juice – a healthy blend of fruits and vegetables, and for a treat vegan and gluten-free cookies.
A couple doors down, dessert came from Lime & Moon Pie Co, serving a tasting plate of pair of favourite mini-pies; a Chocolate Banana Cream Pie and a Sugar Pumpkin Pie both perfect Fall flavours and a nice way to wrap up Tasting Plates – Yaletown.
The next Vancouver Foodster event, Food Talks Vol 14, takes place at Vancouver Aquarium. Buy a ticket now to learn about The Sustainable Seafood Supply. Then Tasting Plates Chinatown hits that neighbourhood on November 23rd.
