Kasabian – Vogue Theatre – 09Apr12
Touring in support of their 2011 released album, Velociraptor, Leicester based Kasabian hit the stage at Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre. In a blaze of light, the veteran performers showed their skills to a packed house of very dedicated and enthusiastic fans. Performing hits from all four of their albums , the band added some samples to change-up some of the tracks – The Doors People Are Strange included in Thick As Thieves and 2Pac’s California Love sampled as well during the evening. The audience was hugely behind the band and hung on their every note, bouncing in rhythm with fists in the air as lead singer Tom Meighan bounded about the stage. Occasionally passing vocal duties to guitarist Sergio Pizzorno with no loss in momentum, the entire quintet was able to absorb and pass the energy back to the audience. With many British expats in the room, obviously overwhelmed to see a marquee British band playing in such a small room as the 1200 capacity Vogue Theatre.
Huge audience reaction and participation came on their biggest hits like Clubfoot, L.S.F or Empire...of which Tom said “Vancouver you are f*cking Empire!” as a reaction to the outpouring of fan-demonium coming from the room.
Wrapping up a couple of months of touring North America with two weekends at the iconic Coachella Music Festival in California, Kasabian then return to Britain to headline Reading/Leeds Festival as well as performing at a number of other festivals throughout Europe.
