Kathleen Edwards – Commodore Ballroom – April 6, 2012
For the second date of her Canadian leg of her North American Spring Tour, Kathleen Edwards was warmly welcomed onto the Commodore stage in Vancouver. The witty, vivacious Ottawa native had the near sell out room abuzz as she promoted her recently released album, Voyageur.
The singer / songwriter displayed her many sides over the course of the 90 minute set; part quiet folk songstress, part raunchy comedienne, part rock chick. In between comic vignettes about ‘sanitized’ hotel room remote controls and diatribes against Real Housewives of Vancouver, Edwards treated the audience to a show that at times felt like a jam session as her and her backing band, including support act Hannah Georgas, appeared to be having a great time on stage. Smiling throughout her time working her way across the stage with guitar or fiddle in hand her energy was contagious and the multi-generational audience caught on and cheered along. Even during her quieter tracks, the positive buzz from the audience was palpable. Rounding out the set with a duet with Hannah Georgas the friendly singer even took the time to sign autographs for the audience before leaving the stage.
Kathleen Edwards continues touring with Hannah Georgas across Canada and the USA until early May.
