One of the biggest performance platforms of the year is the Super Bowl HalfTime Show. This year Katy Perry was the headliner for Super Bowl 49’s half time show extravaganza.
Since the advent of social media, one can get a pretty good grasp of the positive and negative reactions to global live events. While the choice of performers is never going to appeal to everyone, the ability to generate buzz is probably just as important as entertaining people.
Despite Katy Perry being the number one digital artist in the United States (and probably many other places) she still isn’t to everyone’s taste. Smartly she choose carefully from her many number one tunes to come up with a setlist that appealed to the broadest audience and brought in guests Lenny Kravitz and (to much online excitement) Missy Elliott. The setlist included; “Roar”, “Dark Horse”, “I Kissed a Girl” with Lenny Kravitz, “Teenage Dream”,
“California Gurls”, then Missy Elliott performed “Get Ur Freak On”, “Work It” & “Lose Control” and Katy Perry returned to close the show flying across the stadium to “Firework”.
One of the other highlights of the show, based on the online comments were the back-up ‘dancer sharks’ on “Teenage Dream” who were thankfully captured in a Vine gif by @FansidedGIF
