Another week into BC’s reopening as we find more of a mix of virtual and real world entertainment and activities in these picks of the week.
Choir: Chor Leoni Inside, continues tonight at 7pm, with the choir’s livestream featuring new and previously unreleased videos from Chor Leoni’s past concerts and tours, with live commentary from Artistic Director Erick Lichte, and guest interviews.
Prawn: The BC Spot Prawn Season is underway bringing the fresh seafood to docks, and restaurants.
Symphony: Tune in Wednesday at 1230pm, for the last VSO Facebook Live Musician Q&A session of the season, with host Chris James, Maestro Otto Tausk, and VSO musicians Brian Wendel and Olivia Blander.
Digital: The Arts Club: Digital Edition continues to offer three different channels to bring the Arts Club; live performances, workshops, and behind the scenes archives into your home throughout the week
Museum: Museum of Vancouver reopens June 11th, with new social distancing protocols.
Maritime: Also reopening June 11th, Vancouver Maritime Museum prepares to welcome guests to Vanier Park
Summer: Vancouver’s Indian Summer Festival digital 10th anniversary season continues with streaming content on digital channels at 7:01pm every Saturday, until July 18th, this Saturday June 13th, Night of the Raga brings an evening of music featuring L. Subramaniam (violin maestro, Bangalore) and Kavita Krishnamurthy (singer), Amjad Ali Khan and sons Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash (sarod maestro, Delhi), Shubha Mudgal (singer) and Aneesh Pradhan (tabla).
Art: Vancouver Art Gallery continues its ongoing Art Connects series of online gatherings as it prepares to reopen June 15th.
Markets: The Public Health Office as opening up Vancouver Farmers Markets to include some non-food products, arts and crafts for sale while you pick up your farm fresh produce and supplies at Riley Park, Trout Lake, Kitsilano, West End and Mount Pleasant Markets, now open until the autumn.
Sites: Parks Canada has reopened local National Park Reserves and National Historic Sites like Fort Langley.
Botanical: Van Dusen Botanical Gardens is open with new social distancing rules and procedures, nicely timed to let you get out and enjoy the spring blooms
Gardens: Victoria’s Butchart Gardens is also open, welcoming the public to take in the blooms and tranquility of the beautiful 55 acre garden as a break from COVID-19 home confinement
Opera: Vancouver Opera Offstage is a brand-new weekly Wednesday podcast with host Les Dala, Vancouver Opera’s chorus director and associate conductor taking you inside the world of opera, here and around the world.
Royal: While it prepares for reopening June 19th, the Royal BC Museum (RBCM), continues its RBCM@Home program with a selection of offerings for kids and adults alike, and don’t forget to let the Museum know your Covid-19 Stories.
