The autumnal equinox has past and now Fall is fully upon us, let’s see what is in store for the first full weekend of the season.
Broadway: Gallop to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre as Broadway Across Canada brings War Horse to the stage until Sept 29th.
Word: Formerly Word on the Street, newly renamed Word Vancouver takes over Library Square for all things written; books, magazines, writer, poets, until Sunday September 29th.
Culture: Look around every corner of the city this weekend and you’ll probably run into Culture Days activities.
Preseason: The Canucks wrap up the preseason with a home game against NY Rangers at Rogers Arena on Thursday at 7pm
Stage: The new season at The Cultch is underway with the comedy Penelope, running until October 13 at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre’s Historic Theatre
Gig: Brit indie singer/songwriter Jake Bugg hits the stage at The Vogue Theatre on Friday at 7pm (note: tickets for previously scheduled Venue show are being honoured for Vogue)
Jerk It: Head upstairs to Oasis Ultra Lounge and shake your stuff to the sounds of DJs Robo Santos (San Francisco) and Colby B (NYC) at Jerk It Fridays
Dance: Electronic performers ZEDD bring their Moments Of Clarity Tour to the Commodore Ballroom for two shows, Friday and Saturday
Soccer: Last week’s win over Montreal kept their playoff hopes alive but every game is now a must win as the Whitecaps FC host Real Salt Lake at BC Place Saturday afternoon at 4pm
Country: Award winning country artist, Jason Aldean, brings his Night Train tour, featuring Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett, to Rogers Arena on Saturday night at 7:30pm
Show: Have a whale of a time as Noah And The Whale perform at The Vogue Theatre on Saturday Sept 28th at 8pm
On-Sale: Some shows are coming on sale this week will make some perfect Christmas gifts: former LIVE lead singer Ed Kowalczyk (Dec 2 – Rio Theatre), spend an Evening With The Tenors (Dec 2 – Queen Elizabeth Theatre), a solo debut from The Hip’s Paul Langlois (Dec 14 – The Electric Owl) all go on sale Friday Sept 27. Justin Timberlake‘s new dates to his 20/20 Experience World Tour (Jan 16 – Rogers Arena) goes on sale Monday Sept 30th.
