Rancid – Rogers Arena – August 31, 2011
Opening up the 10th Annual Honda Civic Tour before co-headliners Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance, Rancid brought their classic Ska-Punk sound to the Rogers Arena stage. Bringing the early 90’s to this multi-generational concert line-up, founders Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman showed why they are credited with bringing punk to the mainstream of North American music. The band are using this tour to warm up for a trip back to the studio for their eighth studio album due out in 2012. Teaming up with similar but diverse tour-mates allows them to introduce themselves to a wider audience and get reacquainted with some fans who have missed them. Their fun accessible sound brought even those too young to have known them the first time around to their feet. The set built to a crescendo culminating in their most popular hit “Time Bomb”.
