Coming up June 14, there’s a showdown of a different kind happening in Vancouver.

A day-long event, Vancouver Draw Down celebrates drawing and challenges everyone to try their hand at creating their own art in workshops at Vancouver’s community centres, museums, art galleries, and on the street! Participants can try their hand at mural drawing, costume illustration, comic jamming, still life techniques, blindfolded drawing, and much more. The workshops are designed for drop-in participation, and participants are encouraged to try many different workshops throughout the day. All workshops are open, inclusive and free. Professional artists will be on hand to guide and mentor but the workshops are not about teaching but rather the process and pleasure of drawing.
2014 is the fifth annual Vancouver Draw Down, and the biggest one yet with over 40 workshops scheduled across Vancouver! Participating organizations include Arts Club Theatre Company, Vancouver Art Gallery, Contemporary Art Gallery, Satellite Gallery, Artstarts, Hughes Condon Marler Architects, the Vancouver Public Library, and every branch of Vancouver’s community centres.
The launch party kicks of the day at the Vancouver Public Library outdoor plaza at 11am featuring local contemporary company
Dezza Dance incorporates their performance with drawing on a big scale, and then brings the crowd in for the fun!
