Written and directed by Artistic Director and Siminovitch Prize nominee Valerie Methot in collaboration with youth and artists, GLITCH is a bold new and original work inspired by young people’s urgent concerns about societal expectations, anxiety, and phone addiction.
Award-winning Some Assembly Theatre Company unites over 170 professional artists, diverse youth, educators, and health care workers in an artistic process that culminates in this larger-than-life theatre production celebrating the company’s 26th season.
Faced with social pressures, youth are pulled inside a giant cell phone; an absurd and terrifying world of information overload, competition, and unrealistic expectations. Met with the lure of trendy apps, a psychosocial battle for the highest number of human users escalates. Can the humans break free of the vicious cycle?
GLITCH continues Some Assembly’s collaborations between youth and professional artists aiming to promote awareness, wellness, dialogue, and positive social change around social issues and issues faced by youth.
In this production, the company of youth artists include; Ayden Ramzan, Arlo Lim, Ariyan Ramzan, Vienna Wu, Camille Kang, Charli Kemper-Bird, Ryleigh Pascua, Aaryaki Parsekar, Carolina Pfeifer Dutra, Eloise Inkster, Sam Nguyen, Alastair Hamann, Akemi Pina, Von Lochan, Lilac Adams, Connor Nash, Skyler Lee, Ethan Baxter and Oryna Kuts with mentors: Ciara Wilkinson, Mitch Broome, Fox Hunt, Jen Belen, Liv Sabatino.
