For three decades, Spirit of the West has been one of BC’s best loved and recognized bands. This year their annual show at the Commodore Ballroom will have added significance when the band is inducted into the BC Entertainment Hall Of Fame and honoured with a bronze star to be placed on Vancouver’s Granville Street Star Walk.
In addition to the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame honour, Access to Music Foundation (formerly Music BC) is also presenting their bi-annual Beautiful Heart Award to Spirit of the West frontman John Mann. The award recognizes a person whose charitable spirit & musical contributions have made a significant impact to British Columbia. John is being recognized for his work with Bulembu.org, a Swazi-based children’s charity, and with the BC Cancer Foundation. Access to Music President & CEO Elka Yarlowe, who will be joined onstage at the March 15th show by representatives from Bulembu.org and the BC Cancer Foundation, will present the award at the Commodore.
Also a successful solo artist, John’s latest release, Waiting Room chronicles his recent battle with cancer. The Beautiful Heart Award reflect his creative outpouring from this battle and throughout his life.
