The 77th annual Steveston Salmon Festival, returns on July 1, 2024. Presented by the City of Richmond, Steveston Community Society and Richmond Agricultural and Industrial Society “Canada’s biggest little birthday party” takes place across Steveston Village, with the community-wide celebration featuring a parade, live music, performances, food, and much more.
The day’s festivities will kick off at 9:30am with the Kids Bike Parade — open to all children with a decorated bike, wagon, or scooter, with no registration required but an adults must accompany the child and arrive by 9:15 at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery parking lot. The official Canada Day Parade follows, taking place from 10am–12pm, starting at Garry Point Park and ending at Moncton St. and Railway Ave.
Culinary highlights and community favourites will be back this year: the Salmon Bake, Chow Mein, and Pancake Breakfast (served from 8am in the Community Centre parking lot). With 25 food trucks spread across the festival grounds visitors will be able to keep fueled all day; including Johnny’s Pops, Ponchos Taco, Martha’s Kettle Corn, MJ’S Caribbean Cuisine, Takenaka, Tornado Truck, and more.
Live music will be spread across two mainstages: the Spirit of Steveston and the Catch of the Day, a new stage that will feature performances from 12–5pm. Headlining this year’s event are the iconic six-piece Canadian dance band Dr. Strangelove (on at 5pm at the Spirit of Steveston stage) and local favourite Midnight Cruiser Band (on at 4pm at the Catch of the Day stage). In addition to the two main stages, there will also be performances at the 1st & Moncton, Bayview Tower, and Community Showcase stages Roving entertainers will keep crowds amused across the village, including jugglers and stilt walkers.
New and returning programs include:

? Sammy’s Fun Zone: Face painting, interactive games, and button making
? Youth Zone: Music and games
? Art Show: Local artists showcasing their work
? And activations at the Steveston Museum and Post Office, the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery
