Organized by Creative BC’s Reel Green the REEL Earth Day Challenge is an annual fundraising competition benefiting Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation. Running April 8-22, the event encourages local film crews, productions, sponsors and other industry stakeholders to annually raise funds.
B.C. film productions consistently film in the regional parks and this is their chance give back to help maintain and preserve those parks for future generations. Industry sponsors also contribute to the top teams’ daily challenge totals, and the production that raises the most funds overall is recognized as the winner.
Since 2021, this initiative has raised nearly $500,000 for Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation helping to fund projects like Indigenous-led summer camps, habitat restoration, and salmon conservation.
