After the indulgences and spending of the holidays we all could look for ways to economize, here’s a few ways to have some fun with your families for free this New Year’s Eve.
Robson Square Skating: The Ice Rink at Robson Square is open until February 28th, 2025. Bring your family and friends to for a festive frolic on the ice, the rink is open 9am to 9pm December 31 with DJ-El-Niño performing New Year’s Eve from 6-9pm to get the party starting early. Skate rentals are available for $5
Burnaby Village Museum: Take a trip back in time before Father Time moves us forward a year, the historic Burnaby Village Museum’s Heritage Christmas is open 1-9pm January 3, 2025 so you can see what it was like to celebrate the Holidays a century ago.

Shipyards District Skating: Skate into the New Year with your friends and family at the Shipyards Skate Plaza Start your evening celebrations off by joining us for free public skating with DJ jams from 5-8pm. Skate rentals are available for $7 (adults) . $5 (kids)
Bright Nights in Stanley Park: While the Bright Night Train may be halted at the station due to mechanical issues, the glittering plaza is still open by donation to the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund to experience millions of lights twinkling throughout the plaza until 10pm nightly until January 4th
Canada Place: Christmas at Canada Place continues to welcome visitors to take in the nostalgia of the classic Woodward’s Windows, Canada’s North light display, the iconic Sails of Light, and the festive Avenue of Trees before it closes January 1st. Note: No Fireworks

Whistler Blackcomb: Fire & Ice Festival is a free outdoor event in Whistler Village, New Year’s Eve starting at 8:30pm with music, live entertainment, world-class freestyle skiing and riding demonstrations and a spectacular, extended fireworks display on New Year’s Eve
