• Our Stories, Our Voices: various mediums in the Leonore Peyton Salon* curated by Christine Mackenzie
• Agua pasa por mi casa: painting and installation in the Mezzanine by Alejandra Morales Garza
Split Wood Sculpture showcases wood sculptures in the Atrium by Ontario-born artist Robert Riley. With a practice rooted in intuition and deep connection to material, Riley carves, splits, saturates and sculpts single pieces of wood, revealing forms that emerge from the grain itself. “Each piece begins and remains one single piece of wood,” says Riley, who likens the creative process to walking through a forest.

Split Wood Sculpture runs from September 5 to November 6, 2025 at Place des Arts and online from September 12 to November 6, 2025.
Our Stories, Our Voices, curated by First Nations artist and educator Christine Mackenzie, honours the strength and resilience of Indigenous and Métis women. This compelling group exhibition reflects on matriarchal knowledge, the impacts of colonization, and the power of women to lead cultural transformation. Artists range in age and artistic background, using various mediums to share their powerful narratives.
Supported by Coquitlam Foundation, Our Stories, Our Voices runs from September 5 to October 21, 2025 at Place des Arts and online from September 12 to October 21, 2025.
Agua pasa por mi casa by Alejandra Morales Garza, based between Vancouver and Cozumel, Mexico, features paintings and installation art in the Mezzanine. Inspired by local fruit stands in Mexico, Garza’s work explores informal economies, cultural romanticization, and the tension between exoticism and lived reality. Drawing on the aesthetics of artists like Sol Calero and Gabriel Orozco, Garza invites viewers to question assumptions about “paradise” and place.

Agua pasa por mi casa runs September 5 to October 21, 2025 at Place des Arts and online from September 12 to October 21, 2025.
The September Exhibition Opening Reception takes place from 7pm to 9pm at Place des Arts, 1120 Brunette Avenue, Coquitlam. Visit placedesarts.ca for more information
