This summer, for ONE-NIGHT-ONLY, the glamour, energy, and timeless music of Vancouver’s golden era returns to Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. On Friday, June 20th Summer Swing, a time-travelling celebration of vintage elegance, live jazz, and refined dining, takes over the hotel’s iconic 15th floor venue, The Roof.

The elegant evening is a tribute to a golden chapter in Vancouver’s cultural history – when the famed Panorama Roof was the epicentre of nightlife from 1940 to 1965. At its heart was Dal Richards, Vancouver’s beloved “King of Swing”, whose performances with his 11-piece Orchestra filled the room with joy, showmanship, and big band brilliance. For generations, The Roof was where the city came to dine, dance, and celebrate, and this summer, it comes alive once more.
More than an event, Summer Swing is a journey back in time. Guests will be immersed in a world of vintage décor, vibrant energy, and the timeless sounds that defined an era. Guest, in their Jazz-Age inspired glamour, will begin the evening with a gourmet three-course dinner, served long-table style – the perfect setting for mingling, conversation, and camaraderie. The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s talented culinary team will draw inspiration from the hotel’s historic menus to throughfully reimagine each dish.
As the sun sets on the summer solstice, The Roof comes alive with the rich, brassy sound of the Vancouver Jazz Orchestra, performing a dynamic set of big band jazz and swing classics. From smooth ballads to toe-tapping dance numbers, guests are invited to join the other bright young things on the dance floor and let the music transport them, just as it did for so many during the heyday of the Panorama Roof.
After the night of burning up the dance floor, guests can take the elevator home to cap off the evening with an overnight stay – Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is offering exclusive accommodation rates for guest of Summer Swing.
Summer Swing takes place June 20, 2025 from 6pm until late, at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s The Roof, 15th Floor, 900 West Georgia Street. Tickets are available online now from $200 per person, accommodation may be booked separately.
