This weekend, Turtle Island Festival (formerly known as CIRCLES Festival) will light up Sunset Beach. Building on the success of past events, this year’s festival taking place August 24th promises to be an even more enriching and empowering experience for all attendees.

Held at Sunset Beach, from 1pm-10pm, the festival will feature performances of dozens of Indigenous/BIPOC/LGBTQ2SIA+ performers, a vendor village, community feast, a youth showcase, kids, elder and VIP sections. The line up includes: Dakota Bear & Land Back Records, 2024 Canada’s Got Talent winner Rebecca Strong, JUNO nominee/SOCAN Indigenous Songwriter of the Year Logan Staats, Quanah Style, Talilo Marfil, Kimmortal, Natasha Fisher, Jessa Sky and many more.
This year, the Turtle Island Festival aims to surpass past year’s achievements by not only showcasing Indigenous art and culture but also delving deeper into the pressing issues facing Indigenous communities today. On August 23rd Turtle Island Gathering, an Indigenous law conference at The Annex (823 Seymour Street) will feature speakers such as: Chief Namoks (John Ridsdale), Hereditary Chief of the Tsayu Clan, Wet’suwet’en, Jesse Stoeppler, Hereditary Leader of Gitxsan Nation, and Sylvia McAdam – Sewseywehum, Treaty 6 Big River, Idle No More Co-founder.
Tickets for the Festival and Gathering are free with registration but for those looking to enhance their festival experience, VIP tickets will be available, offering exclusive access to special events and premium seating at key discussions and performances. Money Raised from VIP Tickets is being donated to Land Back Healing Society’s Youth Music Program RISE.
